- In the 1960s it was quite easy to use. Because of Behaviourism the first program only wanted for you to chose one of two answers.
- In the 1970s it changed because there was a new idea. Communicative Approach came in and took down the Behaviouristic Approach. Because to most people, and to me, meaning focused learning was better than habit formation learning.
- In the 1980s the emergence of microcomputers emphesized the communicative use of the language.
- Starting from the 1990s and now Integrative CALL takes place. Because of the rapid use of the internet, language programs allow students to do a reading assignment in the target language, use a dictionary or study grammar and pronunciation.
